Destination Guide

There is so much to do in Singapore that you may need to extend your stay. Whether you are a nature-lover, a shopaholic, a foodie or nightspot buff, Singapore has something for everyone.

What TO SEE

Sentosa

This island is a must-see tourist attraction – with its white sandy beaches, theme park, and historic landmarks. Enjoy nature walks through the jungle or simple relax at the beach front cafes.

Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade

The Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade forms part of the 11.7km waterfront route around Marina Reservoir, linking Gardens by the Bay, Marina Barrage and the new Sports Hub. Walk along the mysterious Mist Walk, that opens up to a family-oriented public open space that includes dancing water jets. At the other end, cross The Helix pedestrian bridge from Bayfront to Marina Centre, completing your uninterrupted walk around the Bay.

Chinatown

For a fascinating peek into Singapore's Chinese culture and history, Chinatown is a good place to start. Here, you'll enjoy a mix of heritage, shopping as well as a good variety of food options, which are sure to leave a traveller happy and satisfied at the end of the day.

Gardens by the Bay

Spanning 101 hectares, this award-winning horticultural attraction houses over 250 thousand rare plants and is just a five-minute walk from the city. From the waterfront promenade, enjoy an amazing view of the Marina Bay financial district skyline. The grounds are perfect for an evening stroll and a picnic with loved ones.

What to Eat

Newton Food Centre

Newton Food Centre, also widely known in Singapore as Newton Circus, is perpetually packed with locals and tourists alike. Besides the excellent seafood, succulent satay and pulsating atmosphere, this is also a great place to people-watch. Remember to snag a table before ordering!

Lau Pa Sat

The Lau Pa Sat Festival Market features the cuisine of the pushcart vendors of old, but now in a permanent food centre offering a choice of breezy, alfresco dining, or clean, air-conditioned space. However, the Lau Pa Sat Festival Market still retains its old world charm, with traditional satay vendors setting up stalls outside.

East Coast Lagoon Food Village

East Coast Lagoon Food Village is considered by many to be the epicentre of barbecued seafood. Families flock here before and after a day of activities on the beach for ice cold sugarcane juice and a sumptuous meal of grilled cuttlefish and fish with a hot bowl of steamed rice. Designed with a resort-like feel, it offers local hawker-fare at reasonable prices and a charming seaside ambience – perfect for a meal after a tiring afternoon of cycling, rollerblading or kayaking.

Dempsey Hill

Dempsey Hill is a retail and lifestyle destination, formerly known as the British army barracks and the old CMPB national service enlistment centre, where charming conservation buildings still stand proudly.

Hot enough for you to let down your hair on a Friday night out and family friendly enough for Sunday brunch, browse the exquisite antique furniture shops, gourmet food stores and handcrafted carpets and exotic art pieces sourced globally.

WHERE TO ENTERTAIN

Clarke Quay

Clarke Quay, Singapore's choice dining and entertainment destination, houses restaurants, hip cafes, jazz clubs and more. At night, the entire zone is lit up and beamed with an array of quirky alternative to mainstream clubs. With an international presence in terms of partying options, this is a convergence point for people around the world to celebrate.

Robertson Quay

Laidback and casual, this largely residential estate has become a real entertainment enclave with bars, restaurants, cafés, performing arts houses and art galleries. The area also houses The Singapore Tyler Print Institute, which has free print and paper art installations. There's a multitude of dining options to be found here.

Haji Lane

Once an empty street of pre-war shophouses, Haji Lane has been given a new lease of life by local designers and young entrepreneurs who have set up their quaint boutiques proffering fashionable wear and products boasting made-in-Singapore designs. Just a street away, you'll find textile shops that have been in business since the 1950s! There's a raw, energetic vibe that's worlds away from the polished international stores which makes Haji Lane so undeniably fascinating.
